FANZinE project carries on with research on Europeanisation among football fans
We are glad to announce that the work on Europeanisation of football fandom will continue also after the end of this project. The projekt FANZinE - football as basis for social cohesion in Europe started on Jul 1, 2021 at the Unviersity of Mainz.

Conference news
After a keynote speech at this year’s “Beyond the Big Five”-conference, and a contribution to the “Sport and EU”-conference in July, we will be hosting a panel on “The Europeanisation of Identities Through Everyday Practices” at the 51st UACES Annual Conference in early September.
The panel is slated for Wednesday, 8 Sep, 9:30-11:00 am, and also includes a paper from EUFOOT on the conditions, which may shape whether football fans attain a more Europeanised mind-set.

Two more journal articles accepted
Delighted to inform you that the International Review for the Sociology of Sport accepted our paper “Cosmopolitans and Communitarians: A Typology of Football Fans between National and European Influences” for publication. It’s already accessible online here.
Today, we also received the good news that the European Journal for Sport and Society has accepted our paper entitled “A European Mind? Europeanisation of Football Fan Discussions in Online Message Boards.”

Article awarded runners up for UACES Luke Foster Prize
We are proud to announce that our paper “Non-elite conceptions of Europe: Europe as reference frame in English football fan discussions”, published in Vol. 16 of the Journal of Contemporary European Research finished second in the race for the Luke Foster Prize 2021 of the UACES.

Following a recent online panel on „Europeanisation of identities through every practices“ we launch a Call for Papers for a Special Issue that aims at discussing different and new ways of European identity formation and the question of how citizenship in the context of Europe is formed.

On Sep 3, 2020, the EUFoot team in Kleve organised an online panel that brought together three papers focusing on questions of how Europe is formed in everyday life activities.

Half-time summary
The three-year project has reached its half-time. On Dec 15th, we have been working for 1,5 years together. During this time, we could accomplish some remarkable tasks.

Conference season update
This years conference season is almost over and that is a good reason to report what we have contributed.

EUFoot project started
The research project finally started in mid June 2018. We are happy to be together as a team now and ready to work. Our first step is to set the stage for the following research. This section will be updated as soon as there is new information.
